FreightDesk Participates in African Growth
Opportunity Act (AGOA) Conference in Mauritius
Mauritius, January 15, 2003
– FreightDesk CEO Rob Quartel spoke today on the issue of
supply chain security at the African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA)
Conference in Mauritius. He gave an overview of the data strategies
underlying the US Government's security programs, told the delegates
that US Customs was serious about its new data reporting requirements
and would be imposing fines and other penalties on carriers unable
to file the appropriate documents, and noted that this was a global
trade issue, not one just of concern to the United States.
He went on to say that investment in technology and process security
today could give Sub-Saharan African AGOA members a competitive
advantage in US markets versus others that took the issue less seriously.
He also briefly described the data solution.
