Comprehensive Chain-of-Custody Profiles
Complete chain-of-custody profiles are a cornerstone
of the FreightDesk Cargo Security solution. For each shipment, a
comprehensive data profile is created that enables parties to track
both the container, as well as its contents, from order creation
to final destination. Each profile contains key information including
country of origin, milestones for each leg of the journey, and the
identity of organizations and individuals that have been involved
in the shipment’s manufacture, handling, and transport. Role-based
visibility, as well as interrogation and updating capabilities are
provided to all authorized parties. The specialized data architecture
of the FreightDesk solution for the first time allows government
and commercial freight managers to capture the data from non-linear
events and the full range of sources involved in a trade transaction
– and then to instantiate, interpret, and order these events
not only for an individual shipment…but against the environment
in which the shipment moves.
Upon shipment creation, the FreightDesk Logistics
Control Platform generates a target chain-of-custody profile for
each shipment. Product classifications are validated, supply chain
trading partners are checked against security data bases, and journey
milestones are established. Customer-unique business rules define
roles for each participant in the target transaction, provide support
for cross-organization business processes, establish timelines and
tolerance for the collection of milestone data, and specify regulatory
compliance deliverables.
Commercial enterprises experience this technology
as an increase in supply chain visibility and security. Governments
see it as a means of creating security and transparency into the
supply chains moving through their countries.
Both visibility and transparency into all transactions
are granted via the Logistics Control Platform that contains a universal
data repository, communication protocols, and proprietary algorithms
that collect, rationalize, and integrate data from buyers, sellers,
carriers, service providers, and other members of the global supply
chain. As the cargo progresses according to the target profile,
trade and transportation data is collected from numerous systems,
interpreted according to specifically tailored business rules, and
organized relative to the chain-of-custody profile. The FreightDesk
Logistics Control Platform readily integrates applications, message
formats (EDI, XML), and devices (RFID, e-seal) from disparate systems
and technologies.
Delivering benefits to the public sector:
- Ability to identify ‘at risk’
cargo
- Transparency to all items, parties, milestones
- Consolidated view of all inbound cargo
- Chain-of-Custody Profile for each container
- Supports all transportation modes and carriers
Expanding Cargo Security
Solutions to New Markets…
In addition to its close ties to U.S. policy
makers, FreightDesk is also working with foreign governments and
international organizations to facilitate trade with the U.S. while
ensuring compliance with new security initiatives. This includes
the integration of current systems with new technology solutions
to create seamless views of international freight movements. An
active participant in international forums, FreightDesk recently
co-sponsored the United Nations Trade Facilitation Conference in
Geneva and works with developing countries to address their import/export
issues. Working in cooperation with funding agencies including the
World Bank, FDT is actively engaged in security and trade facilitation
within the international community.
